Using the concept of Object/Topic tags, there should be pre-defined “OBJECTS” and each object can have a variety of “TOPICS”. The danger comes from redundant topics such as “coding” and “programming” tags.
This tag-wrangler plug-in could be useful for managing redundant filters.
Also, I could develop a solution using Obsidian MCP to have an LLM auto tag notes and auto clean my tags for me. That’s a project idea for later.
This Notebooks Taxonomy
What tags do I want to have? Each entry on my site is a single Unit called a “Note”
NOTE (SINGLE UNIT, EACH PAGE IS A 'NOTE')
├── Concept: Definitions or Informational Notes. Like index-cards
├── Study: Study notes (academic) that I have. Are not as organized or finalized as 'Concept' notes
├── Lab: Notes I'm taking while experimenting and building.
├── Thought: Personal journal entry or writing. Usually an opinion
├── Reference: Cheatsheets and Links, and other resources
├── Guide: A guide/tutorial. Usually comes from finalized Lab notes
├── Meta: Notes about your site/PKM concepts. Updates, goals, decisions, etc.Making this Vault a Productive use of time
You don’t want to spend too much time on organization and beautification. It’s a trap. Focus on creating as much output/content as possible, and worry about organization later.
Note Collection
Collecting notes does not magically increase knowledge. This is a fallacy that most students fall victim to. You must read text effectively to assimilate its ideas and learn from it.
Reading without taking notes is a waste of time in the long run, as without taking notes our knowledge only increases for a short while. We soon forget what we learned.
